Nina – Healthier Than Ever Through Walking 🚶♀️💚

Nina is one of our true champions.
She joined Live Naturally’s Walking Project in January 2025, which aimed to inspire residents in Bridgwater to become more active and improve their health through walking. Everyone who took part set themselves a personal goal for January — to quite literally walk their way into better health.

Nina, however, decided to go one step further.
Instead of setting a goal just for January, she set herself a goal for the entire year:
to walk the equivalent distance from the most southerly point of the UK to the far north of Scotland — Land’s End to John o’ Groats. 1,200 miles
In January, Nina started recording her walks on Strava, logging her miles consistently throughout the year. By November she had already reached her full walking goal of 1200 miles. But instead of stopping, she simply carried on — because she loved it so much and she walked 1342 mileas in 2025 + lots of extra walking not recorded on Strava.
When I asked Nina what her favourite part of the challenge has been, she said:
“I just love walking — it gives me so much energy. The more I walk, the better I feel.
The best part has been discovering beautiful places and walking alongside friends and people of all ages. I walk locally in the fields around Bridgwater, up in the Quantocks, and I’ve enjoyed some truly stunning coastal walks in Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall.
I’ve walked on my own, with friends, and as part of walking groups. By January 2026, I’ll have been walking for a whole year — and I’m only just getting started.
I’ve joined the January 2026 challenge too, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.”
Nina added:
“I’m turning 70 on my next birthday, but I feel fitter than the youth!”
Her story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to start — and that simple, consistent movement can completely transform how you feel.
